THE JOURNAL
Writing • Journalism • Reflections • For Writers
Writing has been part of Jacqueline Torres’s journey for many years. This space brings together her journalism, editorial writing, reflections, and conversations on subjects that invite thought, dialogue, and perspective.
It is also a place for those who carry a story, an experience, an idea, or something they have learned and are ready to put into words.
WRITING & JOURNALISM
Writing gives us a way to observe, question, explore, and participate in the conversations around us.
Through journalism and editorial writing, Jacqueline Torres has explored subjects of interest and created opportunities for dialogue through the written word.
This space brings together selected writing and reflections while continuing the conversation with readers.
JOIN THE CONVERSATION
Meaningful conversations begin when people are willing to share what they see, think, and experience.
If you have a perspective, reflection, or editorial thought you would like to share, there is a place for your voice here.

FOR WRITERS
Your Story May Be the Beginning of a Book
Many people have already begun writing without realizing it.
Perhaps you have written a plan, developed a curriculum, prepared teaching or preaching material, written messages, shared ideas through social media, or accumulated experiences that could become something more.
Within those experiences may be a story waiting to be told.
Writing allows us to take what we have lived, learned, and observed and give it form so that it can reach others.
TELL YOUR STORY
Your story is unique.
Your experiences, knowledge, questions, and perspectives have shaped a way of seeing the world that no one else can express in exactly the same way.
Writing a book begins long before the first page is written. It begins when you recognize that you have something to say and decide to give it room to develop.
An idea can become a subject.
A subject can become a story.
A story can become a book.
You do not have to have everything figured out before you begin.
BEGIN YOUR STORY
WRITING IS LIKE BREATHING
Writing can begin with something as simple as paying attention to what continually returns to your thoughts.
Sometimes it grows from a personal experience. Other times it begins with a question, a concern, a lesson, an observation, or a subject that has touched your life in a meaningful way.
From there, the process begins: explore the subject, research, organize your thoughts, and allow the words to take shape.
With practice and discipline, writing can become part of your natural rhythm.
It is not only about writing a book. It is about discovering what you have to say and learning how to express it in a way that others can understand and receive.
WHY WRITE A BOOK?
There are many reasons someone may feel called to write.
TELL YOUR STORY
Give words to experiences that have shaped who you are and what you have learned.
DEVELOP YOUR VOICE
Bring your ideas, knowledge, and perspective together in a form others can read and understand.
HELP OTHERS
What you have learned may become encouragement, knowledge, guidance, or inspiration for someone else.
LEAVE A LEGACY
Written words can preserve experiences, ideas, and lessons beyond the moment in which they were created.
THE WRITER’S JOURNEY
You may not know where the journey will lead when you begin.
Along the way, you encounter people, experiences, questions, discoveries, and moments that gradually reveal a larger picture.
Writing is a journey as well.
Each word, each page, and each experience can reveal something new about the story that is waiting to be told.
